"Canada's Independence" wouldn't fit in the title, poo.

On July 1, 1867, four British North American colonies joined together in Confederation, creating the start of the Canada that we know today. British involvement diminished drastically after that, until finally Canada made the last of the arrangements that made it stand truly autonomously after it proved itself in the world wars.

From what I hear, it was very unceremonious; the matter of Canada's independence was an afterthought next to the matter of pet food pricing in parliament, but don't quote me on that.
