howl's moving castle - to be by chirart howl's moving castle - to be by chirart
...or not to be

Howl's Moving Castle fanart, bookverse! I just read the book (and its sequel) for the first time (I know, late right?). I love the movie, but Miyazaki's designs just don't fit with doing fanart of the book.

And there's very little fanart for HMC that isn't derived from the movie anyway...

The domestic cast of HMC! The image of Howl pulling a Hamlet is one that wouldn't leave me alone, so.

(you can tell I got bored with it closer I got to finishing it, haha SRY)

I loved the book, I was wondering what to draw and I looked up howl's moving castle and I was just wondering if anyone had ever drawn anything pertaining to the actual book by Diana Wynne Jones, and this pops up, thanks for making my day, beautiful pic by the way :)

It's so rare to see fanart for Howl's Moving Castle that isn't based on scenes from the movie! I appreciate the fact that there are at least some people out there who appreciate the book just as much as they appreciate the movie c: This piece is simply inspiring and makes me want to work even harder to be a better artist. Drawing my favorite scenes from books with as much ease as you seem to be able to is a dream of mine... Though if I try to draw all my favorite HMC book scenes I might end up with a complete graphic novel... c: Thank you for sharing such beautiful art and for being such an inspiration!

Thank you so much for doing this, because I haven't seen any really original fanart for this book either!
I thought the movie was very different from the book.
Love this portrayal!
(And Michael's face :XD: )

Yes, yes! That's Howl in a nutshell, isn't it? All that drama... =D
I'm not sure, wasn't there this sort of scene in the book? I think I have a vague recollection.

Oh, and for some reason everyone (I mean it!) draws Howl with blue eyes.
Jones clearly states that he has "glass-green eyes" (in Sophie's words).
I say, aren't people weird like that?

Alas, poor Yorick! Howl is an unmusical Welshman!

But I love the designs you've created for everyone. Michael is especially adorable with his put-upon expression!
